COLONIAL PIPELINE COMPANY RECOGNIZED BY PIPELINE RESEARCH COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL

Company Recognized for Commitment to Pipeline Industry Research and Innovation

ALPHARETTA, GA (March 28, 2019) – Colonial Pipeline Company was recently recognized by Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) for its commitment to pipeline industry research and innovation.  Colonial Pipeline received the In-kind Support Award, presented to member companies that have provided significant resources and have made a major contribution to the success of PRCI research projects and programs.

“Colonial Pipeline is committed to excellence in everything that we do.  Above all, that includes the safe operation of our pipeline,” said Colonial Pipeline President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Blount.  “Our involvement in PRCI is a reflection of our efforts to drive research and apply new technology to improve our operations and be an industry leader.”

Colonial Pipeline Company has been involved in the mission of PRCI since 2003.  Recently, Colonial has made contributions including a five-year funding commitment for PRCI’s Technology Development Center, pipe samples and other critical materials for PRCI research, and a significant investment of time and talent.

In addition to the company award, Mark Piazza – Manager of Pipeline Compliance, Research and Development at Colonial Pipeline – received the Distinguished Service Award.  In his role at the company, Piazza leads the effort to apply PRCI research to internal programs.  He is the newly elected Chair of PRCI’s Research Steering Committee, and will play a key role as the organization transitions to a new research funding model that will effectively address strategic research priorities for the pipeline industry.  

PRCI is a collaborative research organization that represents the world’s leading energy pipeline companies, vendors, service providers, equipment manufacturers, and other organizations.  PRCI is focused on the development and deployment of research solutions to improve the safe operation and effective management of pipelines.
