Colonial’s Port Arthur Team Funds Field Trip For Local School

It’s always in Colonial’s best interest to get involved with the neighborhoods and communities in which we live and work. Colonial’s PAPS facility has a direct impact on the small town of Port Acres, just outside of Port Arthur, TX. The PAPS team knew that building relationships with local schools would be the best way to get involved in a small town like Port Acres.

The team started working with Dick Dowling Elementary School by purchasing school supplies, a camera for the new yearbook class, and sno-cones. The schools leaders, teachers and students have a great relationship with Colonial, and keep the PAPS team updated with school activities and needs.

Last fall, the school was spared from the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. However, the homes of students and teachers we’re damaged, which caused many hardships. The PAPS team was determined to participate in activities that would not only help ease the financial burden of families, but also lift everyone’s spirits. With that in mind, the team funded their recent fieldtrip for the Pre‑K students to attend a Stephen Fite concert.

Stephen Fite is an award-winning musician/writer whose albums have received eighteen nationally recognized honors. His upbeat brand of children’s music spans the spectrum from Rock, Reggae, Pop, Blues, Dixieland and many other styles. Fite believes that children learn best when they are moving and actively involved. That belief is his daily focus and prime motivation for creating and producing tunes that do just that: let children move.

Kudos to the PAPS team, Marie Tinsley in particular, for their outreach efforts and for showing that #ColonialCares. See below for a thank you letter from the Pre‑K teacher and a few photos the school took during their fieldtrip. I am so proud to work for a company that allows me to reach out to our local community and help make a difference in their time of need,” said Tinsley.
